Cheryl Burke has no regrets about retiring from Dancing With the Stars — and has no plans to return in the future.
“I’m done with that,” Burke, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast. “Feelings aside, I just have zero interest in teaching another celebrity how to dance, to be quite honest.”
Burke noted that she is in a better place since first announcing her exit in 2022, adding, “I don’t think I would be in a spot where it would be so easy for me to get sucked back in a way where it starts to define me again. And I’m still a little vulnerable to say, ‘OK, I’m ready to do that.’”
Two years after departing from the show, Burke still has “a lot of unanswered questions” about why she was not asked back to participate in another capacity.
“I can only assume — obviously I would guess it was the podcast — but hopefully now they understand that there’s no harm in this podcast whatsoever,” she shared. “We don’t even talk about the show until the end and most of the interview [is] about them.”
Burke was a dancer on the competition reality show for 26 seasons before she officially retired in 2022. Before the season 31 finale, Burke hinted that she would love to join the series in a different role, perhaps as a judge.
“They are very well aware that I want that seat. It’s not that I just want it, I just know that I can contribute because I am an expert in ballroom dancing. I can say that with confidence. I can also say that my teaching methods haven’t been known to being sugar coated,” Burke said during an interview with Variety in 2022.
Burke continued: “They have been very well aware for probably a few years now. So unfortunately, that decision is not up to me. I would love to still be a part of the family, I just would love a different role on the show, just like anybody after 26 seasons of having that same title.”
Since parting ways with DWTS, Burke started her “Sex, Lies and Spray Tans” podcast, which features interviews with former contestants. Burke has questioned whether this led to ABC not inviting her to DWTS events such as a tribute to judge Len Goodman in October 2023.
“I didn’t want to leave the show. This was my family,” Burke told Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes on an episode of their podcast in April. “That was my identity in every way. … [But] I felt like it was time for me to grow and evolve in my career.”
Burke explained why her absence from the tribute might have been based on her podcast.
“I found out [about Len’s tribute] when everyone else found out. And that was just a stab in the heart for me. I just couldn’t believe that I wasn’t included in something so special. More than anything, I just feel really sad. I’m still so sad. I’m not even mad anymore,” she added. “It just makes me believe that they’re not listening to it or someth”.
How many kids does Cheryl Burke have?
Cheryl Burke is weighing in on ex-husband Matthew Lawrence’s new relationship. Fans of the ’90s were thrilled when the news of the relationship between Lawrence and TLC’s Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas broke earlier this year — and the excitement doubled when Lawrence said earlier this month the couple want to have a baby.
Burke, who finalized her divorce from Lawrence in September 2022, talked about her ex-husband’s new relationship on the March 9 episode of “The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever with Chris Harrison.”
“I’m not surprised at all,” Burke, 38, said of his desire to have children. “He comes from a huge family and I think that, especially his mom, there were definitely conversations, but I always had said, ‘As long as I had to shove my body in a dance costume, me thinking about being pregnant probably isn’t something I can talk about at the moment.’
“But yes, there were discussions of possibly freezing my eggs,” she added.
Burke also said she really does “wish him well.”
“I really truly hope he can actually have a kid with Chilli,” she said. “I think that’s amazing. I think he’s wanted that.”
Lawrence, 43, said in a March 3 interview with “Entertainment Tonight” he hopes having children with Chilli is in the cards.
“That’s the game plan,” Lawrence said. “That’s what we’re trying to do.”
“My life is in a complete bloom right now,” he continued. “I get to spend time with an amazing woman like Chilli. I’ve never gotten to be able to experience that kind of a relationship before, so it’s quite special. She’s a really, really special human being.”
Lawrence added the pair formed a “real friendship” for about six months, and talked on the phone and got to know each other before they made their relationship official. Chilli, 52, is already a mom to 25-year-old son Tron, whom she shares with her ex Dallas Austin.
Burke said she’s still a huge TLC fan, but that she probably won’t be attending one of the group’s performances anytime soon.
“I’m not going to a concert,” Burke said. “But I will still sing along to the song ‘No Scrubs.’
The former “DWTS” pro said there were moments of toxicity in her marriage with Lawrence, but she felt her “biggest breakup” was with the show, referencing her departure from “Dancing With the Stars” after 26 seasons.
“I have a heavy heart,” she said. “It’s really sad because I feel like that marriage was definitely a longer one. … I grew up on that show.”

How rich is Matthew Lawrence?
Attention: NCIS fans, Matthew Lawrence is joining the cast for a guest starring role next week, and Us Weekly has the exclusive first look. Lawrence, 44, will play Danny Butler, the son of a retired spy and dementia patient Captain Butler (John Getz). When Danny discovers his father’s true profession it makes him wonder if he ever really knew the man.
“My father is a spy for the Russians?” Danny asks in Us’ exclusive first look at Lawrence in the Monday, November 11, episode. “How is that possible?” Agents Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) explain that his father’s spy days happened before he was born, but that doesn’t calm him down.
“First, he spends my entire childhood on deployment, and now you’re telling me he’s a traitor? That’s just great,” Danny quips. While Torres and Knight try to figure out if Danny holds any clues to Captain Butler’s whereabouts they ask, “Did he have any friends, anyone from his past who might’ve spoken another language?” A frustrated Danny fires back, “What, like, Finnish? Don’t you guys think I would’ve told you that?”
Once Danny starts to realize that NCIS isn’t the enemy, he apologizes for his outburst. “Sorry, it’s just a lot to take in,” he explains. “It seems like everything I know about my father is a lie.” Torres totally understands. “You don’t have to apologize, I’ve been there,” he replies.
Danny is at a loss when asked where his father could’ve gone, telling Knight, “I really don’t know about my dad’s time in the navy.” He explains that his dad kept all his Navy relics in boxes. “When mom died, I moved in to take care of him. We put most of his stuff in the garage,” Danny says, agreeing to let the team look. “Just don’t tell me what you find,” Danny adds, shaking his head in disbelief.
The episode titled “In From the Cold” will follow the NCIS team as they work with the CIA to figure out “what secrets are being kept” by Captain Butler before his dementia erases his memory, according to the official synopsis.
Lawrence’s character appears to be one of the tactics the team will use to help crack the former spy along the way. The NCIS episode marks Lawrence’s first cameo on a TV procedural since he guest starred on an episode of Hawaii Five-0 in 2019. The star, however, has appeared in several movies including 2021’s TV movie Mistletoe Mixup — which also featured his brothers Joey and Andrew Lawrence — and 2022’s Christmas on Repeat. Matthew also cohosts the “Brotherly Love” podcast alongside his siblings.
Catch Matthew’s NCIS debut on CBS Monday, November 11, at 9 p.m. ET.

Former teen heartthrob Matthew Lawrence and 90s showstopper Chilli want to start a family. The two went “Instagram official” in December 2022, just in time for some holiday cheer and have been in excessive PDA mode ever since. “Boy Meets World” star Lawrence, 43, doesn’t have any children, while TLC’s Chilli (whose real name is Rozonda Thomas), 52, has a 25-year-old son with fellow musician Dallas Austin.

During that interview, Lawrence was asked if there were any children in the cards. “That’s the game plan. That’s what we’re trying to do,”
